I am a marine social scientist and practitioner working to restore local, collective rights to fisheries and coasts.

Coastal and marine ecosystems do not exist in isolation; they interact with human societies in complex ways. Unpacking the relationship between humans and the oceans has the potential to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges, from climate change to food insecurity to social injustice.

I partner with the local and traditional stewards of the coast – small-scale fishermen – to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
